Putin: Material damage to South Ossetia exceeds $1 billion |

Georgian aggression against South Ossetia has inflicted damage of over $1 billion, informed Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin quoting Minister for Regional Development Dmitry Kozak. Putin evaluated the cost of reconstruction and development in South Ossetia at RUR25 billion.
According to media reports, President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili had earlier accused Russia of causing Georgia material damage of $2 billion during the Georgian-Ossetian conflict.
The sum, according to Saakashvili, is of damage to the country's infrastructure and traffic arteries. Saakashvili in his speech has appealed to the US and EU to create a special fund of help to Georgia.
