GAZA: The Gaza Strip’s storehouses of petrol are empty due to Israeli sanctions, the deputy chief of the federation of gas station owners, Mahmoud Al-Khazindar said on Thursday.

Al-Khazindar said that as the winter months approach the Strip will face a fuel crisis if Israel does not ease restrictions on the import of fuel.

The Nahal Oz crossing, the main crossing point for liquid fuels into Gaza, is closed on Thursday and Friday for the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur. Khazindar said that an expected shipment of fuel on Sunday will be critical to averting a crisis.
